| Description | Maryland April 10, 1774 $2 Fr. MD-67. PCGS Very Fine 35. This is a note from an available series, but importantly retaining most of the original stub at the left (serial No. 5925). An interesting denomination using two crudely engraved Spanish dollar vignettes in the center to quickly identify the denomination and prevent note raising. Well margined on the face, nearly complete stub, and sharply printed. This is a very unusual Maryland piece and rarely seen with this left end stub. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28040, realized $840. Image and description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, https://ha.com. |
