State of Maryland October 17, 1780 Small Denomination Act $1/10 Fr. MD-124. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is a rare and distinctive series of fractional notes printed by Frederick Green, similar in style to the "Black Money" notes, but in a smaller format. These are generally low grade when encountered. Boyd had two damaged notes and two that should be classified as Fine or in that vicinity. His "Fine" $1/10, Lot 8168 in Ford Part XV realized $5,175. This Apparent example has is noted as having "UR Corner Repaired; Design Redrawn; Minor Stains." The appearance is suitable for any collection and despite 45,000 notes authorized, few still exist in any grade. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
