| Description | Pennsylvania April 10, 1775 50 Shillings Fr. PA-175. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. A high-grade note from a popular series. This is the highest of two denominations from the "Workhouse" issue. Printed face and back using a two-color process by Hall and Sellers. The red face and back details are sharp, and the workhouse vignette (perpendicular to face) is well detailed. Plate C. Perfectly margined and with excellent face-to-back registration. The signatures are boldly accomplished. The grade might be conservative as this is one the finest we have seen. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28124, realized $1140. Image and description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, https://ha.com. |
