Pennsylvania April 10, 1777 1 Shilling Black Fr. PA-213a. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. The April 10, 1777 shilling denominated notes were a radical departure in size and design from previous series. The notes were wider format and printed in black or in red and black. Though black denomination types are generally easier to find, strictly Uncirculated notes, especially Gem, are very rarely offered. This is the only Uncirculated example graded by PCGS and is obviously the top population note for the type. This shilling note has the added plus of its full sheet edge at the top. A nearly perfect example with immaculate surfaces and spot-on face-to-back registration. A condition rarity and worthy of liberal bidding. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society
