Pennsylvania March 20, 1771 5 Shillings Francis Hopkinson Signature Fr. PA-146. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. The March 20, 1771 Pennsylvania series is an attractive one with orange borders, arms or devices. The signature of Francis Hopkinson, signer of Declaration of Independence appears on notes from this series. On this example, his signature appears between two others. Although there were never any groups of high grade Hopkinson notes, they are much scarcer than John Hart notes from New Jersey. Noted with "Small Edge Splits," compensated for by excellent color and wide margins. An outstanding candidate for a Colonial note "Signers" set. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
