Description | New Hampshire July 25, 1775 3 Shillings Fr. NH-136. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. Following the comparatively lavish copperplate notes engraved by Gilman, New Hampshire issued several series of smaller size typeset notes. Six denominations were authorized for this issue date, and examples in any condition are difficult to obtain. In wide format with several vertical rows of ornaments at left and text across the center. This is the highest denomination of six specified and one of 4,000 authorized; it is thought to be Rarity 7 (4-12 known). Though this is backed upon a period book page, it faces up very well and is full size as issued. Noted with "Splits and Repairs; Backed." Notes from the issue are rarely found superior to this example. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28055, realized $1560.
