New Hampshire July 25, 1775 6 Pence Fr. NH-131. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. This is an extremely rare wide format small change denomination note and was not in the Boyd collection. Notes from this series, when they can be found, average Good. Most of them had to be backed in the period to extend their circulation as they began their existence on a sturdy laid paper that, when creased, would split rapidly. The notes circulated heavily and this lowest denomination example would have been often used to make change. Its survival, one of 4,000 authorized, is a matter of happenstance, like most rare collectible paper money. From the face this is rather attractive overall. Apparent notations consider "Splits, Damage, and Repairs; Pieces Replaced; Partially Backed." However, this is a great rarity. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
