Description | North Carolina May 10, 1780 $25 Dulce... Fr. NC-191a. PCGS About New 53PPQ. This $25 "Dulce..." note is from the typeset, thin paper series with Latin mottos (one of six used for this denomination). The motto DULCE PRO PATRIA MORI (It is pleasing to die for one's country) is at the lower left. Printed by J. Davis with his imprint on the back. Lightly handled and a beautiful lowest denomination from the series. High-grade notes are usually very difficult to find due to the fragile paper used. This note exceeds several of the Boyd type notes from the series. Another perfect type representative from the issue. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 28107, realized $456. Image and description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, https://ha.com. |
