| Description | Japan 3.5% Public Loan Certificate 100-yen, issued 1944 (reverse side, see full description in previous image). Tokubetsu shikin (special reward grant) seal stamped in upper right margin. Schwan-Boling 653. Joseph Boling collection. On the reverse, the figure 1.75 represented the amount of interest that each coupon paid (1 yen 75 sen), a little less than a half-cent. There were no coins in sen denominations after the war that would enable cash redemption of a single coupon. Note, the six-month coupon paid half of the 3.5% interest that a 100-yen bond would pay in a year. |
