The Government of the Republic of China released saving bonds to adjust national finance and seek war funds during the Sino-Japanese War from 1937 to 1945 (one could make a case for it having started in 1931, when the Japanese seized Manchuria, but at that point war had not been declared). This is a savings bond of 5 yuan, with a 10-year term, issued by the post office on July 10th, 1941. This five-yuan bond could be redeemed for 5.56 yuan on July 9, 1951. No earlier redemption was allowed; and no further interest would be given after the term date. The redemption could be rejected if lost or damaged.
