Born and raised in Canada, Shawn moved to the United States at the age of twelve. Now (2023) a Michigan resident, he began collecting coins at a young age with the influence of his grandfather. With over four decades of collecting and two decades of appraising, Shawn began numismatic forensics in 2022. The love of mystery and solving puzzles drove him to research and discoveries. With a strong background in writing, he began to have articles he wrote published by CoinWeek, ERRORSCOPE, and The Numismatist. In 2023 he was awarded a Newman Numismatic Portal Grant.
