1901 25C PR67 S Cameo NGC. The 1901 is generally the last date that can be regularly located with cameo contrast. After this the Mint switched to the all-brilliant method of manufacture for proofs that virtually eliminated contrast. Stunning field-motif contrast on this Superb Gem reaches out to the observer, as does the medley of cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-tan patina. Immaculately preserved surfaces exhibit razor-sharp design features. The coveted Star affirms the beauty of this specimen. Census: 16 in 67 (4 in 67 S), 4 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
