Lot of Three Counterfeit Coin Detectors. An H. Maranville rectangular brass pocket coin tester, patented February 14, 1860, has thickness and diameter gauges for U.S. and foreign gold and silver coins, as well as a sliding counterweight balance function. Very good condition. Measures 3.0 x 1.9 x 0.3 inches. when collapsed. An H. Maranville, Akron, Ohio, dial coin tester is patented April 30, 1878, and has gauges for diameter and thickness of all U.S. gold and silver coins, as well as a counterweight balance scale. Very good condition. Measures 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.0 inches. A Henry Troemner, Philadelphia, balance counterfeit detector has a black-painted metal base and includes seven coin slots, marked for the half eagle, eagle, double eagle, silver dollar, half dollar, quarter, and dime. Good condition, with some paint missing on the base. Includes a Craig Whitford auction envelope, 11/2000, lot 1589. Measures 5.4 x 2.4 x 1.5 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
